Hi!
I'm Robin Blank, owner manager of Norman's.
In 1993, I moved to Jerusalem from Toronto, Canada. At first I
worked in a medical center and volunteered for the Magen Adom
David Ambulance Unit.
Previously, I studied at the Fashion Institute for Technology (F.I.T.)
in New York where I graduated in Advertising and Marketing.
I also spent a study year at Midreshet Moriah in Jerusalem.
Camp Stone, where I worked as a lifeguard was great. My two
summers as a volunteer in the Israel Defense Forces were most
memorable.
Since becoming involved with Norman's, I have had to forego my
favorite sport: skiing in the Rockies.
A number of items on the Norman's menu are named after for
some of my special people:
- Abbey's Onion Rings: Abbey is my New York shopping friend.
- Aliya's Favorite: one of Norman's daughters.
- Ariana's Salad: my shopping friend.
- Ayelet's Chicken Delite: my neighbor.
- Bella & Yudel: my Mom's late grandparents.
- Big Daddy: that's my Dad! When he isn't jeeping in the
desert, he drops in at Norman's. Ask him nicely and he may take
you along some great trails.
- The Big Foot: isn't sponsored by Ford.
- Blue Jay Special Wings: the Toronto Blue Jays are my favorite
baseball team.
- D.J.'s Steak Sandwich: My nephew Daniel Jordan.
- Faigie & Yankel: my Mom's late grandparents.
- Felicia's Fries: my cousin.
- Gladys & David's Mixed Grill: for my parents who can
never decide what to eat at Norman's.
- JB's Chicken Fingers: named after my youngest brother Jeffrey
Blank, who is in Toronto.
- Jeff's Slam Dunk: my 6' 5" brother.
- Mark's Super Sandwich: Mark is my brother. Mark
used to co-manage Norman's with me. Now he is a successful VP Sales
at a computer distribution company. At Norman's we have invested
a great deal of time and effort putting together a first class team
that create and serve what we think is a great product.
- Mom's Salad: my Mom's invention.
- Norman: Norman was the previous owner.
- Ora's Favorite: Ora loves it as she does my brother, which
makes her my sister-in-law.
- R.D.'s Stir Fried Chicken Salad: a world traveler.
- Robin's Salad: Robin's creation.
- Ruth & Fritz's Salad: my late grandpa
and grandma.
- Salli & Grete's Combo: my grandpa's parents.
- Sarah & David Meatballs: my late bubbie and zaidie.
- Sarah's Hot Diggity Dog: my niece Sarah.
- Selma & Morris: my Dad's late grandparents.
- Suzy's Tuna Sandwich: Suzy is my dear vegetarian friend.
- Tal Tal: one of Norman's daughters.
